Eating the Elephant

You have heard the question, "How do you eat an elephant?" The answer is, "one bite at a time." This metaphor applies to achieving any big goal, as well. How do you achieve a huge goal? You accomplish it one step, one task, one measure at a time.

When you invest an extra one or two hours per day in self-improvement, the cumulative effect on your greater ability to get results can be extraordinary.

Under Construction . . .

Home Cookin' 2 Go is getting ready to release a new web presence. Soon there will be a whole new website where our customers can go and see the whole menu, just as it appears in the 'flesh' at our Van Dyke location. We will have other features like a map supported on the Google platform. A link will take you directly to our email address. And lots of other cool stuff I am not allowed to mention at this point. Tom has been working closely with a local web developer, James, to make sure that the site lives up the quality and expectations of our philosophy on good food at a good value, as well as creating a site that is easy for our friends to use. If you have been in the 'shop' for food or have been meaning to stop by and see what we are all about, then you are our friends. At Home Cookin' 2 Go there are no strangers, just friends we have not yet met.

At Home Cookin' 2 Go (hc2g) we fully understand that there has to be value for your buck in these hard times. That's why Tom has been putting together some new items for you to try. OUR NEW DAILY MENU CHOICES ARE: Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo, Mostaccioli w/ Meat sauce, Beef Stew, all served with soup or (by popular demand) a dinner salad and a dinner roll. Open faced Hot Roast Beef or Turkey sandwich, served on our fresh baked bread smothered in gravy. COMING SOON; Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwiches, and Gyros.

Tom is always coming up with new ideas and with the holidays fastly approaching, we are offering a complete Thanksgiving Dinner to those of you who don't want to, or otherwise can't find the time to prepare a large meal. You can pre order a 10 to 14 pound or a 15 to 20 pound turkey with all of the trimmings today. Call us for more details.

Change the Menu . . . Are You Mad????

So here we are, Friday, August 21st, 2009. Home Cookin' 2 Go has been open for 7 weeks. WOW! The response we have had from the community has been so wonderful, it is hard to put into words. Thanks is about all we can say. Thanks for your awesome support. We are lookin' forward to cookin' great food at a great price for ya' for a long time to come.

As everybody knows, "menu items are subject to change". I know you have heard this before and it is time for some change @ Home Cookin' 2 Go. We have been monitoring the menu items and after carefully checking the numbers and doin' the math, there have been a couple of modifications to the menu.

We no longer have a Pastrami grinder and the pastrami sandwich is now know as the Romeo and Juliet. In its place, we have added Shane's favorite; Bruchetta (or Pizza Grinder). You gotta' try one of these babies, mmmm!!

The grilled cheese sandwich is (by popular demand) now a grilled Ham and Cheese sandwich. The classic grilled cheese sandwich just got better with a heap of thin sliced Black Forest ham.

Other subtle changes are the Oven Baked Chicken Dinner is now a Grilled Boneless Chicken Breast still served with smashed red skins with gravy and corn.

We're pretty sure that these new items will quickly become your new favorites. And we are not done yet!! Stay tuned for more, new and improved items. So we'll see 'ya soon and as always, we welcome your comments and suggestions . . . either leave a comment here or next time you stop in. We love hearing from 'ya . . . until next time

Droppin' a line . . .

We at Home Cookin' 2 Go want to thank you for all your support so far. Today, Thursday, August 13 marks our 5 weeks of operation. We are very grateful and humbled by all of the fantastic feedback we have gotten thus far. If you haven't noticed, we are strugglin' a bit to keep up with the demand for our baked goods(i.e. cookies, breads, over the moons, chocloate covered brownies). We are working hard to find the best way to have the best product possible. Bakin' our own breads, grinder rolls and onion rolls has proved to be a bit more than we bargained for. We will get it smoothed out. Stayed tuned for some minor tweeks to the menu and Tom will be expanding the Daily Specials in the very near future.

Thanks Again for all your support and we'll see ya' soon . . .

Press release 6-8-2009

Home Cookin’ comes to Romeo, Michigan
Monday, June 08, 2009

Home Cookin’ 2 Go was founded in 2009 by Tom and Lori Potrzuski at 66850 Van Dyke in Romeo, Michigan. The couple came up with the concept after thinking about the fact that it so hard to find good food at a reasonable price from a carry out style restaurant. Both Tom and Lori were entrepreneurial types and saw an opportunity when it was presented to bring a fast, friendly, cost effective ‘other choice’ to the Romeo area. They found a nice little spot to add their special touch and bring in some great menu items.

Tom learned the restaurant business working part time while still attending high school. His service to his country in the United States Navy was dedicated to Mess Management (Navy for cooking). When he departed from the Navy he found himself raising a family on the Western coast of Florida working for new, up and coming companies like Bennigans’ and small independent kitchens as well. The River Wilderness Country Club was Tom’s last stop in Florida where he spent several years cooking for course pro Paul Azinger.

Tom found his way back home to Michigan and it wasn’t long before he was advancing quickly with the Mr. B’s group. He opened several locations for Mr. B’s and got the places up and running as well as launching his own bagel shop in Lake Orion, Michigan in the mid 90’s. Tom and Lori have so much experience in the food business that opening a place to share their talents only made sense. They have brought those talents to Romeo with the philosophy that “There are no strangers here, only friends we have not yet met”. You will most likely bump into your friends or neighbors when you drop in for some tasty carry out or one of the dozens of fresh baked breads and tantilizing deserts. They have taken care of all the cooking for you so that your busy schedule doesn’t have to limit your dinning options.

Over the years, Tom has expanded and perfected his menu. His pizzas are sure to receive numerous awards and his customers keep coming back for more! Home Cookin’ features New York Style pizza and it is a "must try". His five cheese pies tempt with a "pound of cheese". They are turning out pizza for the meat lovers or for meat haters. Oven toasted grinders and premier salads ready to go in minutes. Take out specialities include a spectacular Pot-roast dinner, pork roast, or oven roasted turkey, all with potato and a vegetable appropriate for the meat selection in addition to one of the six home-made soups daily. BBQ ribs melt in your mouth, are tender and meaty and smothered in a special BBQ sauce recipe that has no match!

Stop in today and pick up your Home Cookin’ 2 Go . . .
